How we construct our fiber internet network.

Bringing fairer, friendlier, faster internet to your neighborhood.

Building a better internet network involves a series of well-planned steps. Here's what you can expect when we begin construction in your area.

Planning

Once we've determined that we will be building your area, we start by laying out the network on paper. Then we work with the city to acquire the right permits and get their guidance on how they want the work done.

Identifying Utilities

We identify existing utilities taking into account easements and rights-of-way for your street or neighborhood. We'll contact your local OneCall to mark any utilities with flags prior to construction.

Construction

Depending on your location, our network is constructed by either boring underground or running our fiber lines on the utility poles. Your safety is our priority. Before any construction begins, we will place door hangers on each home with more info.

Land Restoration

Our goal is to be as minimally invasive as possible when constructing our network. We strive to make it look like we were never there! If your property is not restored right, please let us know.

Activate Service

It's time to start getting you and neighbors online. If you've already placed an order for fiber internet, we'll reach out to schedule your home installation. Haven't ordered yet? Check service availability here.

How we bring fiber to your home.

Once construction is complete, it's time to get your home connected to our network.

The Installation

Our install technician will meet you at your home and work with you to design the path for where the cable will be brought from the street to your home. Once you sign off, we'll install the fiber line and get you online!

The Drop

In areas with underground construction, we'll contact your local OneCall to mark utilities so we can come back and bury the fiber line. This all takes place outside so you won't need to be home.

This can depend on local regulations, weather, neighborhood layout, and more and could take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. We'll do our best to keep you updated on our progress as construction moves along.

In many cases, we bury our fiber lines underground in the easements and rights-of-way of your property to keep them protected. We aim to minimize disruption and will restore your yard once construction is complete. If you have a construction concern, please let us know so we can come back and fix it.

Certain parts of your property are reserved for public use and use by utility companies and other entities to run services like electricity, gas, and internet. Learn more here.

We restore your property to its original condition before leaving through a variety of methods depending on the landscaping. Sometimes, this can take a couple weeks depending on weather as our crews move through the area.

If you have a question or concern about your land restoration, please tell us, so we can take care of it.

We take your safety and our safety very seriously. We notify the utility company immediately and follow all procedures. We then work with them to get service restored as quickly and safely as possible.

Of course! You can place your order, and then we’ll notify you once we are ready for your installation.

In many areas, a temp drop will be run from the street to your home. This fiber line will be buried within 8-10 business days, and you do not need to be home for it.

Once you place your order, we'll keep you updated via email as construction progresses. Or, you can use the form above to check construction progress in your area.
