Gateway Fiber Teams Up with Big Sticky’s and Buddy Bags
St. Charles, MO — Local internet provider Gateway Fiber is teaming up with Big Sticky’s BBQ for “Gateway Gives: Dine Out for Buddy Bags,” a fundraising event on October 9 to support Buddy Bags, an organization committed to feeding children in the Lincoln County RIII School District in Troy. Proceeds from the evening will go toward helping Buddy Bags continue its mission of purchasing supplies for food-insecure children when they are away from school.
“Buddy Bags is an organization near and dear to our hearts,” said Big Sticky’s co-owner Amber Fetter. “They help solve a hidden need within our community for kids who otherwise would not have regular meals at home on the weekend. As a former teacher, I saw the need in some of my students every day and was so glad when Buddy Bags stepped up to fill it.”
Missouri-based Gateway Fiber is committed to positively impacting the local community, including local charities and other philanthropic organizations. Gateway’s commitment extends far beyond providing high-speed internet to the area.
“When Big Sticky’s suggested we help with Buddy Bags, it was an easy decision,” said John Meyer, Gateway’s Chief Marketing Officer. “There’s a real need to provide the food some children in the communities we serve depend on each weekend. Since Buddy Bags relies on local donations for help, we quickly jumped on board.”
The Gateway Gives fundraiser will be held on Saturday, October 9, at Big Sticky’s on Cherry Street in Troy. Current Gateway customers will get a free order of chicken nachos with each table’s order.
“We are currently sending home approximately five hundred Buddy Bags a week and this could not happen without the support of our volunteers and local community,” said Dr. Salvo, Director of Social Emotional Learning & Supports. “Thanks to the Lincoln County philanthropic community, students are provided with two breakfast, two lunch, and four snack items every week.”
Entertainment will be provided by local musician Mickey Scott, who plays a wide variety of cover acoustic music from the 60s-90s, including songs from artists like Eagles, Bob Segar, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Buffett, Gordon Lightfoot, and many more.
